I'm going with self hosted https://gitea.io/ for my portfolio. Written in Go, fully open
source, nice and lightweight, and I control the infrastructure it's on. Yeah.
Any suggestions for a VPS provider? Or is dynamic DNS still a thing so I can
host from home?

I hadn't noticed that, but by following the link
(https://sfconservancy.org/GiveUpGitHub/), you are correct.
So, I (we?) learned about SourceHut from you before SFC, thank you for that.
Interesting that SFC links to https://sourcehut.org, not the
https://sr.ht domain, where the repos are stored.
And the list of features is impressive.
I still think the sr.ht domain looks sketchy AF, but the general
services provided by Source Hut are intriguing and worth checking out.
I wish them lots of success.
